What
To Say (please feel free to put as much in your own words as you want): Hello, IÕm [Insert Name] calling from
[the name of your organization or college if you are calling on their behalf,
if not just leave this out] in [Insert Name Of City/Town]. IÕm a constituent
[and or let them know that your organization/institution is located in the
Congressman/womanÕs district] and am calling to ask for their support and
co-sponsorship of House Resolution 1288.
This resolution will support the
recognition of September as National Campus Safety Awareness Month. This
initiative is driven by the national non-profit Security On Campus, Inc and is
a collaborative effort as the group works with colleges and universities
throughout the country to raise awareness about safety on campuses. This is an
opportunity for our entire community, including students, to come together to
work to make our campus as safe as possible. Your co-sponsorship of House
Resolution 1288 will help us draw much needed attention to this initiative and
we would greatly appreciate the Congressman/womanÕs support.
[You may be asked to provide an address
so that they can send you a written response. This is a good sign so please let
them respond in writing and please provide us with a copy.]
