Security On Campus, Inc. Outreach Programs

Outreach is a critical component of our mission at Security On Campus, Inc.  We are always looking for new ways to reach out to the local and national community, in an effort to make campuses safer and reduce violence.  We offer several programs designed to connect us with the local and national community, helping propel others towards personal safety and general responsibility on college and university campuses.

Our Programs

  • The Safe On Campus Peer Education Program (SOC/PEP) brings college students into high schools to talk to college-bound students about some of the issues they may encounter during their next phase of life, such as high-risk drinking and sexual assault.  We are currently in the process of adding a stalking program to SOC/PEP.

  • Our Victim Advocacy program assists victims of campus crime by educating them about their rights, and about how their campus is required by law to treat their complaint or report.  We provide victims with information about the Campus Sexual Assault Victims' Bill of Rights, Title IX, and other legislation that is relevant to reporting a crime to campus authorities.  When necessary, we assist campus crime victims in filing complaints with the U.S. Department of Education if their case is not handled properly by their college or university.

  • National Campus Safety Awareness Month (NCSAM) is our annual campus safety awareness event.  Every September, SOC partners with colleges and universities across the country to help them promote awareness of campus safety issues, including but not limited to: high-risk drinking, sexual assault, hazing, stalking, fire safety, and general campus safety precautions.  In September 2008, 350 colleges and universities brought NCSAM to their campuses.

  • We offer Clery Act Training Seminars (CATS) is a 10-hour course offered to college and university officials interested in learning more about the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy And Campus Crime Statistics Act and how to comply with it.  Our CATS program is funded by the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights.  A multi-disciplinary team presents at our regional training seminars, educating campus officials about collecting and disclosing crime data, assisting victims of campus crimes, and publishing their Annual Security Report.
